Best Summer Fragrances 2026: Inside the Inspiration for Serotonin Spritz
What Summer Is Supposed to Smell Like (And Why We Built a Whole Fragrance Around It)
Summer doesn't ask permission.
It shows up loud, a little reckless, and completely uninterested in your schedule. The best days of it don't get planned — they get extended. One drink turns into four. One stop turns into a whole night you didn't see coming. You stay in the water a little too long. You don't check your phone.
We've been building toward a fragrance for that specific energy for over a year. It's called Serotonin Spritz, and it launches July 9th. Here's where it came from — and what else to be wearing this summer while you wait.
The inspiration:
The idea started somewhere specific: a spritz, condensation running down the glass, the particular kind of warm day optimism that only exists between June and August. Not a "vacation fragrance" in the generic sense — we wanted something that smelled like the exact moment you stop performing relaxation and actually feel it.
We partnered with Hotel Starlino on this one, bringing Serotonin Spritz to life with their Pompelmo grapefruit liqueur. Grapefruit, pink pepper, and pomelo zest open it — sharp, citric, immediate. A tequila accord runs through the middle alongside thyme, geranium, and cassis leaf, giving it warmth and a little bit of mischief. It settles into watery musk, cedarwood, and amber — sun-warmed skin, salt air, the smell of staying out later than you meant to.
It's the first fragrance we've made with IFF, and the first project with perfumers Carlos Benaim and Laurent le Guernec — more on that soon, because it's a big deal and deserves its own story.
What else to wear this summer while you count down:
If you're already thinking ahead to your summer rotation, here's how the current L'Epoque lineup fits the season:
Dopamine Rose — for daytime. Pool days, brunch, the version of summer that's bright and a little sugar-high. Strawberry, raspberry, rose damascena. It photographs as well as it wears.
Delusions of Grandeur — for the nights that get a little out of hand in the best way. Apricot, tobacco, rum, jasmine sambac. Warm and confident, built for golden hour turning into 2am.
Inner Child — for the quiet mornings after the loud nights. Linen, bergamot, vanilla. The reset.
Dreams and Nightmares — for the trips that don't go according to plan. Pink pepper, petrichor, amber woods. Complex enough for unpredictable weather and unpredictable plans.
The countdown:
Serotonin Spritz launches July 9th on lepoqueparfums.com and at LuckyScent. If summer has a feeling, this is what we think it smells like.
